Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star (NX165KK)

Although the P-80 and T-33 look very similar, one was designed as a two seat trainer and the other as a single seat fighter.
The prototype P-80 fighter, "Lulu Belle" first flew in January 1944 and is now in the NASM in Washington DC.
The T-33 was stretched about 36" from the P-80 and the second seat was added with full flight controls.

I got a chance to ride in and fly a T-33 from the back seat once some years ago. I knew a guy who owned one and he used to fly it at airshows around the country. When he gave rides he always started out with 5 rolls left and 5 rolls right. If that didn't toss your lunch you were probably good for the rest of the flight. He was "Captain Midnight" and the T-33 was in Thunderbirds paint.

Neat rememberance of an awesome flight it sounds like. I reember a Red White & Blue Thunderbirds paint schemed T-33 that flew in Wisconsin.
