China Southern Airlines plans to change the name of its first-class cabin to business class in a bid to reclaim official customers amid Beijing's crackdown on wasteful government spending. Really, compared to days of yore, where is the First Class travelling section? It used to be a comfy spacious seat with 5 star service. Food cooked on the plane, served with attention to your every whim, a meal worthy of a Benjamin, and extra attention from check in to delivery curbside. Some like American and Asiana would actually collect you at home and deliver you at the destination.
Most of Europe has given up First, and charges double for business, and that somehow is acceptable on expense reports.
Bring back the real first, and train the people in the art of service. Singapore has it, Thai has it, Malaysian is close. Fly a US carrier, and you'd think they were doing you a favor by interrupting their socializing time. Fly British or Air France and you'd think the Marquis de Sade was schooling the lot.
