I hate to start off a thread the wrong way again but even the airport itself is using DIA rather than it's ICAO code of DEN. Local recognition goes a long way, as it should.
Just like here in Montréal locals refer to YUL as PET, abbreviating the official name Pierre Elliot Trudeau airport. You know of course what a pet is English, but a pet in French means fart..... :)
