All the information from Inmersat has been peer reviewed and reviewed again. The navigational waypoints and last radar tracks by military back up the Indian Ocean analysis. Anywhere else is under satellite and radar coverage within the fuel exhaustion maximum zone. Unless the CEO know it all and others want to criticise the aircraft accident investigators and underwater experts, they better come up with an alternative based on solid information and a full analysis presented to the experts.
The team are acting on the best information they have got which everyone knows is not accurate with only 7 satellite pings "(handshakes) hence the 60,000 km search area.
All other aspects from criminal profiling, cargo contents etc. does not change the aspects of the current search. Yes they need to know and continue to investigate this but still does not change what they are currently undertaking.

Note 2.-- An aircraft is considered to be missing when the official search has been terminated and the wreckage has not been located.
There is no official recommendation or requirement under ICAO Annex 13 for a search period. There is only a expectation to make a reasonable effort to undertake a search. If Australia does not find it after a reasonable period and in the search zone designated they are quite entitled to terminate their search efforts, especially due to the vagueness of the data and the inability to know the exact flight path and fuel exhaustion period as many suggest. Then they finalise their report based on current information.
There is nothing in the Annex excluding anyone else undertaking a search.
