Former TWA Flight Attendants Sue American, Union Over Seniority

提交时间:

A group of former Trans World Airlines flight attendants who now work for American Airlines is suing the airline and their union over seniority. The suit seeks to challenge plans that the two unions representing American’s and US Airways’ flight attendants have to combine their seniority lists based on dates in their current lists.... Good for them!! What a mess it must be at AA...TWA, Reno Air, the old AirCal (although I expect most of them are retired by now) and THEN USAir and all of its hodge-podge....yikes and Ay Carumba! Probably not the "happiest place on Earth".

Isn't there a statute of limitations on lawsuits?

You would think they would have done this before 13 years though.

Shouldn't be retroactive to 13 yrs ago

Well, it wouldn't be retroactive but it has been 13 years since AA bought TWA and dovetailed them in on the tail end and now with the US Air merger, they are probably going to have a whole new ball game.

My wife and kids recently flew with some TWA FA's and said they were very rude. Now I don't have a problem with them trying to make their schedules a little better and get better choices for vacation - but once they start giving bad service to the passenger because of their grievances they have crossed a line. If as a group they act this way I have no sympathy for them. If it's just a few bad apples then I hope they are relieved of the jobs they hate so much. My wife was an FA. They were really mean to the passengers Caroline has dealt with some pad passengers and knows how sometimes it only seems like you're being mean while dealing with a difficult person or situation. Personally I couldn't do the job of FA's - but that doesn't excuse that kind of behavior.

What I figure is that when they were bought by AA in 2001 and were just tacked on to the tail end of the roster, that's probably the best that they could have hoped for. Now, with the merger, and the advent of McCaskill-Bond, their will probably be a number of the U.S. folks be put in ahead of them, at least some of them. With AA new hires though and retirements, it would look like after 13 years, they would be a good ways on up the roster, so idk.

When you start to take out your grievances on the people that are making your paycheck happen, then you should be fired immediately!!!

That's old school and how we think it ought to happen cause that's how we were raised. BUT, how many times have you gone into a place in recent years and the clerk couldn't wait on you right then on account they had a cell phone to their ear and you were interrupting their conversation; it didn't matter that you were the customer and the place survived on satisfying customers, not to mention providing them a paycheck.

Ahh, the joys of dealing with union people, where seniority and who will get the opportunity to do even less for more pay than the newer people working their tails off for less pay. Kinda brings a tear to the eye thru insideous laughter knowing that these people would nearly kill each other over one day of seniority.....and then everyone wonders why so many businesses (and even our illustrious government) with unions are doing so poorly?!?
