Not to shocking to see most airlines modernizing their fleet. Especially in this age since most quad jets like the 747 and A340 are being replaced with the A330, A350, 777, and 787 aircraft.

I was shocked however when Singapore Airlines announced the retirement of 5 of their A380's. I still think the airline can keep them for a while like Emirates.

They are replacing them with new ones.

They are retiring them because they are not making as much money with them compared to the twins...remember its roughly 26k-31k per hour costs wise on the A380 but roughly 1/2 that on a newer triple 7 or A350
