As I watched these guys working away I wondered if they were even aware of the history of this aircraft?

I was wondering what you were referring to. I noticed some of the other pics of this N number were in the old purple livery, which made me realize this was a DC10. I knew this N number sounded familiar. So I got to thinking...and then it clicked! I knew this N number sounded familiar. FedEx 705
