I saw one of these sitting at the end of a taxiway at Manila airport in 2002. I wonder what happened to it.

I remember flying to Anchorage, Alaska in about 1953 in a Stratocruiser and watching a Connie pass us headed in the same direction. A beautiful plane!
Lee Palmore
Most stylish plane ever designed.

First airplane I ever worked on. Learned how to troubleshoot on these airplanes.

I was put on 'Loan' to the US Navy back in 1962 from the Air Force, as an International Flight Navigator (Navy didn't have qualified Navigatres that could traverse the Pacific) back in those days....quite an experience in......that airlane had a tremondous wobble effect at cruise...could drive a Navigater nuts..but we got to the PI and back through Japan, Midway Island. Wake Island and Hawaii --- landed at KSUU. What a beautiful machine (Thanks Howard).

My first airline ride. From Hobby airport (HOU) to Harrisburg State Airport, now Harrisburg International(MDT). It was 1960, and the stewardess took me up to the cockpit and the Captain and crew showed me the instruments etc. and gave me a little set of wings. I will never forget that trip, and how nice everything was.

My mother flew from London to Entebbe in 1947 in one of these, before I was born.

Is a 747 pilot any higher when taxiing?
