Where do you go at KSAT to take your photos?

Nice shot of a tough old girl earning her keep!

Nice pic of one of the ugliest aircraft ever to (hopefully) leave the ground. It looks like the wing struts were glued onto the fuselage. I wouldn't get on that plane unless it was an emergency. It doesn't even look aerodynamic, more like a cattle trailer.

People used to say that this was the 'box' that the Dornier 328 came in!!!

That is one ugly aircraft! But pretty cool, I have to admit. LOL!

I love these UGLY planes....

Imperial Airlines in San Diego flew those along with "Bandits"!

Great old STOL aircraft and affectionately known as the "flying cattle truck". A subsidiary of Qantas (Sunstate Airlines) flew these on sectors n Queensland many years ago. Always a great flight at low altitude.

Michael Wulfson, this plane was called "The least aerodynamic Flying Shed" for quite a while but it was of the toughest and durable planes; quite a workhorse with excellent load carrying capacity & performance. Flew in them in deserts and rough terrain as well as around UK & Ireland (As passenger) I agree its a bit like a cattle trailer and the photo almost seems to show "Painted on window frames!" never the less the pilots seemed to love them. I did too could see the ground really well at moderate altitude and it really felt like flying.

Most of my flight hours were in the SD3-30 (3000hrs+/-) However I still have about 1000hrs in the SD-6. Very tough and reliable machines.
