Douglas DC-3 (N33VW) - This C-47 was built as a Douglas C-47A-90-DL Skytrain, USAAF s/n 43-15935, msn 20401. It was declared surplus in 1946 according to Joe Baughers information. The aircraft went thru a succession of registrations and owners until 1998 when sold to Vintage Wings and Things of Carencro, Louisiana and registered as N33VW. It was sold to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, Addison, Texas in 2009 and retains the FAA civil registration of N33VW. Photo was taken at KLFT, Lafayette Regional Airport, circa 2000. The aircraft has been repainted in a "WWII D-Day" livery, olive drab with light grey undersides and "invasion stripes" since this photo.
