I went for a press ride in "Aluminum Overcast" with Bud Anderson and Chuck Yeager taking turns at the controls. I'll remember that forever.

This airplane recently came to my local airport. Looking carefully, I noticed placards indicating the horizontal stabilizer was made by Lockheed. I inquired and was surprised to find that the whole thing was made by Lockheed! Boeing indeed!

I believe I heard that there are no Boeing built B-17s operational now. But remember, everybody built planes during the war. Many B-24s were built by Ford.
