Pilots Draws Syringe With Needle To Celebrate Vaccine Distribution In Europe

2020 has been a rough year for many across the globe. Like many other sectors, the travel industry was one of many that took the hardest hit as business and leisure travel came to a grinding halt due to sudden border closures and lock downs.

General aviation (GA) pilots took the time this year to have some fun, “drawing” messages of support during the pandemic. In the latest stint, the pilot of a Diamond DA20 (registered D-ENIG) took to the skies of Germany on December 23 to draw the picture of a syringe and needle. The flight which took off from Friedrichshafen Airport in Friedrichshafen, Germany, took a total time of 1 hour and 38 minutes, and was done to celebrate the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in Europe.

Flights like these are like Easter eggs because to the regular person looking up to the skies, it would have just been yet another aircraft buzzing around. However, finds like this are more interesting to aviation and travel enthusiasts who constantly scour sites like FlightAware and Flightradar24 because the flight’s track is also stored, revealing the “drawing”.

Here are a few more that were drawn earlier in the year.

With vaccines being delivered to all EU states, the mass vaccination drive was started on Sunday across all member countries. More pressure has been placed on government health agencies as both the United Kingdom and South Africa announced new and more infectious variants of the virus. Even though surrounding countries tried to slow the spread with border closures, both Canada and Finland are already reporting cases of the new variants, and it won’t be surprising to see it spread to many other parts of the globe in due course.
