Just today, we released an awesome new feature -- sunlit earth. We now shade the map to indicate where it's dawn, day, night, and dusk! It really helps when tracking long-haul flights to understand the time of day around the world and the conditions of the flight. (flightaware.com) 更多...
Very nice. Now would be great if passengers would be allowed to see day and night on long haul trips again instead of having window shades forcibly closed by flight attendants, or remotely controlled on the Dreamliners...
Looks nice but I'm very aware of sunrise and sunset where I am and where I'm going. It's really kind of superfluous information that in the long run is nether here nor there. But it looks pretty.
Many FA users track more than themselves. I for one track many aircraft that operate all over the globe. It is great now to have a more visual indication of the sun cycle on their tracks.
What ever you need is good. I NEVER track myself on FA. After all if I'm flying the route I know more than the tracker will admit to. I track other flights from time to time, but am fully aware of the sunlight or darkness by the time of day or don't care. When I track a flight from Hawaii on occasion I find the references to local time much more distracting than if the tracker used Zulu. Again it's superfluous information for me, but it looks pretty, and if it's good for you that's wonderful.
Myself and my family are often flying "to the other side of the world" and I like this new feature - especially for the times I'll be tracking them. Really appreciated, and thanks!
