Photos of Qantas B747-400 Uncontained Engine Failure
Pictures have emerged of the damaged Rolls-Royce RB211 engine on a Qantas Airlines Boeing 747-400 that experienced an uncontained engine failure on departure from the San Francisco International airport en route to Sydney late Monday night. Those pictures are great! It would be interesting to hear the conversation with ATC.
Not a good week for RR. Although this failure is (hopefully) unrelated to the uncontained failure of the Trent 1000 engine being developed for the B787, this can't be welcome news for their PR folks. And considering the adage that bad things tend to happen in threes, I wouldn't be too comfortable on a RR-powered aircraft for a while.

I agree with indy2001 !! Boeing is a excellent plane. If it happens In Airbus, have many alarms for shut off and after you think how will be the correct procedure into a large book!
