United to restrict low-fare flyers to one carry-on bag

提交时间:

United Airlines will become the first big U.S. airline to limit low-fare customers to one carry-on bag that fits under a seat, and will defer delivery of dozens of planes from Boeing as part of a push to boost profits. The announcement on Tuesday could frustrate flyers who already feel burdened with airline travel restrictions and fees. United will also prohibit these travelers from carrying on bags that can only fit in overhead bins, and they will not accrue miles toward elite status. (www.cnbc.com) 更多...

To clarify: This is only if you CHOOSE to buy their new "basic" airfare ticket which restricts you to the bag limitations mentioned and doesn't give you the ability to select your seat. It will be cheaper than regular fare in an attempt to compete with the ULCCs.

I've never felt that Airfare was overpriced, it's people who wont something for nothing that
see it as overpriced. When you start with a 300 million dollar A380 and you need 2.25 aircraft to service a round trip destination. That's a 60 million dollar investment befoer you gas it up or hire a crew. I think you complainers should drive, train, or take a ship and see what that costs in time and money and then decide how overpriced airline fares are.

After years of travel on airliners with scores of airlines around the world with just a satchel to put under the seat and twenty pounds or so to put in an overhead bin, I am hanging it up. To those who abuse the weight restrictions and size, you have won, but the rest of us suffer and pay. Will you find another way to beat the system?

United is already in competition with Spirit in a race to the bottom. Nickel and diming passengers will drive customers to the competition that does not do so. Some routes will not provide that competition but the popular routes will allow passengers to select the service to which they have become at a competitive price.

The marketplace will determine whether this is acceptable or not.

United Air Lines did well in 2015. The major U.S. airlines are doing so well in fact, Warren Buffet dumped his Canadian oil stocks and bought shares in all the major U.S. airlines.

Why don't the airlines just come out and admit they don't want our business?

Oh, they want your business really bad, which is why they are restricting the carry ons. They can tag on $20 more to your already over-priced ticket.

If they didn't want your business then they would say so and fold up to do something else to make money.

Think about what you wrote makes no sense.
