Bought into this company on 9/11 and have seen stock price tumble, though I still hold it. Company was tightly family controlled when I bought it and put a lot into Ski-Doo and Sea-doo. Has now diversified into rail. CRJ are my choice over E 145 but with a backlog of 36 aircraft can’t see justification s a shareholder to stay in the business

This company has relied on the Canadian taxpayer since it was founded. Government funding for anything is simply taxpayer dollars. Governments have no money. However this is a Quebec company and that province gets way more per capita than any other province: reason, they do strategic voting to make sure they control our Federal government. The rest of us aren't smart enough to do this. I am an 80 year old Ontario resident.

There is not a single airplane manufacturer on the planet which is not heavily subsidised by governments: Boeing, Airbus, Embraer,... Ontario's DeHavilland was also supported by provincial and federal governments before being taken over. These industries with their well-paid work-forces and huge export markets are politically protected in the larger marketplace. The virtual monopolies of Boeing and Airbus allow them to dominate and force smaller companies into yielding their independence as with Bombardier and Embraer.
