I was 10, visiting relatives in New Hampshire with my family. We were to fly home to SAC/Sacramento Municipal (then) Airport via TWA and SFO. TWA was on strike, and they couldn't rebook us on anything else for a week. That was on AA, BOS-JFK (727-123) and AA JFK-SFO (707-323), getting in after midnight. My folks didn't want to wait for the morning SFO-SAC flight on West Coast (WC), so they rented a car and drove. Needless to say, I was disappointed in that last bit.

Cue "The Great Airplane Strike" by Paul Revere & the Raiders. The work stoppage lasted long enough for this song to get recorded, released, and become a mid-charting hit.

Wish I didn't have to be a subscriber to the LA Times to see it. I was working for TWA as a mechanic at the time and never did recover the lost wages experienced as a result of that strike.

I recall a memorable flight when at 13, flying Delta / LAX-DFW-MCO during that time. Delta must not have been affected.

oh for the good old days of flying! back in 1966 ,despite issues or problems, people were still civil, and customer service mattered!
