Lufthansa will bring vacationers on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office from New Zealand back to Europe. Five Airbus A380s with 509 seats each and five Boeing 747s with 371 seats each will fly from Auckland and Christchurch, the country's two largest cities, departing from Frankfurt during the week. Air New Zealand have been flying them back too, there have been 2, sometimes 3 ANZ triple 7's landing at Vancouver (CYVR) to refuel for the past week going to and from Frankfurt, Aukland and Christchurch.
Do some research as to what has been done and what is required to make such flights. It takes more than just we will send an aircraft...... The Germans had only two Airports to uplift from.
First time Lufthansa had been here to NZ in 20 years. And, Mike, we're on target to be out of our lockdown in 2-3 weeks, a total of 4-5 weeks thanks to great leadership from the PM and Kiwi compliance (generally). Strange times so who knows how many more 747s we'll see :-)
hey didn't bring us home! In spite of Singapore Airlines (LH code share partner) confirming flights and seats from NZ, LH consistently failed to update their ticketing. So we could not fly. Finally, LH offered partial reimbursement which we accepted, and then bought new seats - on the SAME flights that SQ had proposed for us! No sign of a reimbursement from LH and it seems now that they may well duck out of their commitment!
