RANCHO PALOS VERDES (CBSLA) — Authorities are investigating another jet pack sighting in the Los Angeles area on Thursday. This time, off the coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Sling Pilot Academy, a flight school based in Torrance, posted footage of the possible jet pack on Instagram. (losangeles.cbslocal.com) 更多...
King Newsom demands the arrests of paddle boarders, but not the jet pack drone that can potentially threaten hundreds of lives and cargo (vaccines) in an instant. Apparently law enforcement resources shall be deverted elsewhere.
Actually 2 were arrested in So Cal in April. Both for failing to comply with police instructions. The local authorities haven't gotten close enough to rocket man to tell him to stop yet.
From the LACSO Lost Hills Station report April 2020: On April 2, 2020, Lost Hills Sheriff’s station deputies were flagged down by lifeguards regarding a male adult in the water, disobeying lifeguard orders to exit the water. The suspect remained in the water paddle boarding for approximately 30-40 minutes. LASD boat was brought in from Marina Del Rey Station, once the Sheriff’s boat arrived on scene, the suspect complied and swam to shore. The suspect was arrested for Disobeying a Lifeguard 17.12.115 LACC and Violation of Government Code 8665. The suspect was transported to Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station where he was booked and released on a promise to appear.
The boarder was arrested for not getting out of the water. The Gavin did not 'demand the arrests of paddle boarders'. He did tell people not to go out and infect each other. That didn't work out well either.
The Sheriff of my County went on record that his deputies have better things to do that to comply with the Governor's orders.
Sure, and as kids when we flew our model airplanes too close to the hospital with the helicopter it was a local cop who asked us not to fly there...I suppose the feds should have swarmed us. Most of the time if you are breaking a Fed law you are also breaking a State or Local law...they let the locals deal with this penny-ante crap.
Fact is, when seconds count the police are minutes away (thus, all legal citizens in the US should carry a fire arm). And when the FAA is needed....well, in general at least 12 hours are needed to get someone to arrive. So, yes, daft is appropriate.
Great bumper sticker. "I carry a gun because cops are too heavy". If the FAA can depend on the retards they call TSA, yeah, I will defer to a random drunken beat cop, thanks.
"Sir!!!!!!!! You just agreed that a man WILL BE SUCKED INTO AN ENGINE!!!!" I assume this plane will crash, if the plane fell, on fire, into a crouded stadium...how many innocent people would parish?
I'm 90% certain it's an RC Flying Man! Amazing how the media rarely does their homework these days. Take a look here: https://mikeshouts.com/rc-flying-man-in-11-scale/
I have no problem with jetpack experimenters doing it well away from inhabited and air-trafficed areas, but a lot of these bozos seem to lack some elemental common sense. Generally, I class them as hang-gliders and responsible hang-glider users pay careful attention to their own vulnerabilities as well as the greater danger to other citizens. Basically, if things go badly wrong, it's only the user at risk, and that's the way it should be. Anyone who puts other people at risk by the use of a jetpack / man-drone, etc, is a fool and should be left in no doubt what will happen to them if the mission goes tits-up.
Differentiation is that there are not exactly a ton of places to go hang gliding...now, a jet pack the options are wide open...plus, with the media and their delusions running rampant, "close" to an airport may be within the same continent.
It could be almost any. Could be local, state, fed or just some kids with bottle rockets. Wait, are we allowed to point a laser beam at people wearing jet packs?(do not want to assign them a gender in CA)
It's illegal to point one at an aircraft, but those laws presuppose a legitimate flight with a properly certified pilot. Is there a jet-pack type certification? So maybe that's a gray area. OTOH, criminals have successfully sued their targets when injured on the victim's property due to 'negligence of the property owner'. So there might be a tort for bodily injury subsequent to laser induced control loss. I wonder how hard the cops would look for the 'perp'.
Heat seeking missiles with a range of less than a mile?
There is a reason that I left a Liberal Bastion of Apathetic filth (Illinois) for Florida.... :-) I am not thinking it is very probable a criminal will sue me for cutting their hand breaking my window in FL.
