Its getting so out of hand overseas with these strikes which don't affect those striking much but those who are trying to travel greatly.
That's the whole point of those who strike ruin others holidays they are very short sighted in there quest for whatever demands they have.
Typical union tactics these days as its our way and we don't care about the company we work for.

Well without specifics for the dispute at hand, your comment is pretty uninformative. It could easily be asserted the other direction: "Typical corporate tactics these days as its our way and we don't care about the people who work for us."

Spring and summer are often strike season in France. Been there, done that. The taxis take advantage of transit strikes (also currently going on) and charge more and illegally refusing shorter rides. Provided you can somehow get to the cities, great food, bars, and sightseeing of course. Steel yourself for the aggravation.

France has some of the toughest laws on employment in the western world. Once someone is hired, they are yours for life. That's why there is so much youth unemployment in France, they can't get jobs because employers can't fire anyone and they all stay until retirement. Not like the good ole USA where non-union employees are employed "at will" and can be fired anytime with no severance and no reason for the firing either. Both systems France and the USA are extremes with little balance. French workers have it very good, USA very bad. Fortunately I live elsewhere.
