Airlines made big coronavirus changes this week. What to know

提交时间:

The health and safety of everyone flying Frontier is paramount and temperature screenings add an additional layer of protection for everyone onboard,” Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle said in a press release. “This new step during the boarding process, coupled with face coverings and elevated disinfection procedures, will serve to provide Frontier customers an assurance that their well-being is our foremost priority and we are taking every measure to help them travel comfortably and safely.” (www.foxbusiness.com) 更多...

Temperature checks are all fine and dandy but what about the people that are out and about that have Covid-19 but are asymptomatic???? The biggest problem that the general public has with Covid-19 is the understanding of what the term "Asymptomatic" means. In fact the majority of my coworkers never had heard of Typhoid Mary, after they did some research most of them thought that her story was funny!!!

All temperature checks and face masks are going to do is get some of the less educated people on flights. Another thing to remember is that a persons temperature can change based on activity, food, fluid and a woman's menstrual cycle.

Whit that being said is an airline going to not allow you to board because you temperature is elevated after making a mad dash across the terminal to catch there flight?? Also what are they going to do if a person temperature shows that they are suffering from Hypothermia. After all the person working at the gate is a not a trained in medicine!!!!

So frontier airlines check in staff will determine if a passenger has a medical condition by use of a thermal scan? What assurance does the passenger have that the equipment in use has been certified? What is the equipment's +/- variances? Is the equipment calibrated regularly? What training has the operator had? Remember that there is only a 1.8 degree temperature window of compliance.
What if a family member fails the test and the other family members pass? Are they expected to leave that family member behind? Do the approved passengers loose their air fare if they don't fly?
What if a member of the flight crew fails the temperature test. The Captain or Co-pilot fails the test? Are there replacement personal at the ready to step in or is the flight delayed or cancelled?
I hope the above"what ifs" have been considered along with the implimentation of this requirement. Please share your thoughts or concerns in this matter.
Safe travels...

None of that is relevant. This is a choice between not flying at all or taking reasonable precautions when flying. If some people are screened out by this process who do not have the virus that is still infinitely preferable to shutting down air travel entirely. And yes, all of the steps are really educated guesses at what works. They are experiments, if you will. If it turns out infected virus-shedding people are getting through screening then they will have to modify procedures. It has to be this way because there isn't enough rock-solid information on the virus today and we can't shut down the economy until we know everything about this virus.

Greg S. I don't think company policy should be based on 'experiments' using the public as test subjects. Your post is irrelevant in addressing my subject matter.

They are using the best available information to make their policy. We don't know what the results will be for sure, but we do know for certain that shutting down the economy for an extended period of time will be a disaster the likes we have not seen since the Great Depression.
