American now looking to freeze - not kill - pensions

Well, bad as it is, it does beat the alternative, which regardless of the Pension Board or whatever, would be next to nothing. That's part of the problem with Corporate America today. The top execs aren't thinking employees at that point. They are thinking stockholders and total dollars, never mind that, as you say, those $ come on the backs of thousands of honest, hardworking employee's.

he isn't even there anymore and thats for obvious reasons. At some point we all have to face the reality that we don't live in an economy where we can afford things we had 10 - 20 years ago.... I think they are trying there hardest to make an effort to screw over the employees as little as possible. Every other airline did this and they are the last one, I believe they should get their turn too like everyone else did.
Paul, I would add just a little to your comment, in that some of the other legacies that went through the process gave no regard to their employees at all. As you said, AMR is trying
