They most likely got a great price for the Airbus order as the Europeans will have capacity they will need to fill with the shutting down of the A-380 program.

Emirates is also facing the new fuel efficient twins with their long range and their more appropriate capacity taking some of their business by airlines flying point to point. It looks like they are positioning themselves to compete in heavily traveled routes.

787-10 is just a bit smaller and less capable than the 777-8... maybe that is why.

this could be no more than a rationalization of the capacity of the airline, not some knee-jerk reaction to the 737max mess. :Unless they order an equivalent number of 350-10's... we shall see.....

This decision is nothing to do with the 737Max. Emirates doesn't fly any 737 variant and has none on order.

Two Max 8's plummeting to earth killing in excess of 340 people??? And then we found out recently that Boeing was aware of the MCAS malfunction in 2017??? Hardly knee jerk.

doubt if it helps that the US legacy airlines are trying to take Emirates to the World Trade over supposed subsidies.
