Why Atlanta Is The World’s Busiest Airport
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport has been the busiest airport (by passenger number) for many years. It may seem surprising that this title is not held by one of the largest cities or well-known hub locations, such as London, New York, or Dubai. The airport’s strategic location and role as the main hub for one of the world’s largest airlines combine to make it the busiest in the world. (simpleflying.com) 更多...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
ATL is far enough South that the impact of weather is minimized.Scheduling into Northern hubs in the winter carries risks of weather delays and flight cancellations. Always a consideration when flying in winter
Had SWA not prevailed in the not gonna' leave DAL plan, while accepting the Wright, (wrong) amendment, and moved to DFW, it would have gobsmacked ATL and every other major metro airport in ops.
It routinely comes in a close second.
Fortunately if you live in Dallas, you have a choice of how far you must drive to fly. Something Fort Worth never figured out how to do with FTW. Thank Jim Wright and the failure of Amon G. Carter Field.

I thought it was Chicago O’Hare
Used to be, but changed about 10 or so years back!
