Exactly, given the scarcity of 757s and their desirability I would think repair would be the first option unless there is one in storage that can quickly be returned to service.

Anyone who thinks EWR is the worst airport in the country should be made to sit in one of those tiny departure areas at MCI with one broken toilet and no food for several hours. Definitely the worst airport in the country (and world class in badness) and it will continue to be until they get the new single terminal open in 2023.

It’s pretty much the same process at Boeing, the reporting hasn’t been exactly accurate. The difference is that it appears that the FAA rarely reviews the paperwork while I assume the EU actually does.

The SSJ can not dump fuel, the only option is to burn it off. Its a smaller sized plane though and thus should be easier to land at max weight than a large airplane.

Buffalo air has retired the DC-3 to freight use only after they were grounded back in 2013. They are still in use for that purpose as far as I know however.

Back in the 1970s my father, a retired UAL pilot, managed to talk the flight crew into letting him ride in the jump seat rather than bumping our who family. I doubt you could get away with that today...
