It seems to me that some of these airlines/pilots from other countries just dont get it. In my mind, an emergency declaration should be an automatic flight cancellation. Period. Once declared, that aircraft should be deemed unsafe to fly and must land, pulled from service until a full inspection in regards to the emergency clears it to once again be airworthy.
Seems to me that all this reliance on automation nowadays has become a priority.
The airline industry has adopted the ‘sterile cockpit’ under 10,000 ft. Maybe its time to get pilots to ‘fly first’ under 10,000 ft and have automation as the backup.
Ya, seems to me that maybe they are pushing the envelope to see where it finally comes unglued.
Perfect example: Alaska Airlines 261. But I think that maintainence over ride was internal penny pinching...sad to say.
Geeze, if I was to spend $64M dollars, I would think they would have painted some cool graphics rather than plop a ‘Plain Jane’ aircraft in front of me! First impressions are always important. Just like a beautiful woman on a first date showing up wearing gum boots and a plastic rain coat. Probably wind up costing as much too! Lol!
