The Brass hats have wasted more $$ in the last few years than it took to fight WW-II. The A-10 was properly designed for its role, the F-35 is not. The idiots that thought one plane could fill the roles for all the services are proved wrong once again, they never learn. If they want a new fighter, they should build improved F-22's, or better reprise the YF-23. A new ground-attack plane, build more A-10's. In such a role, stealth buys you nothing and costs a fortune.

I still think a air rifle firing BB's or .177 cal pellets is best. Range is only ~600', and it doesn't make the noise of a regular gun. Of course, he'd have to be a better shot than with a shotgun loaded with birdshot, but still i'd be safer ...

I travel on the Government dime, so I keep the boarding passes for submission to the Travel office. Fail to do so (or destroy them) & you won't get reimbursed.

The EX-IM bank only supports political cronys. If Boeing wants to pull that trick, slap them with a 100 billion dollar fine, because they are a DEFENSE CONTRACTOR! And DENY them any more contracts.

I hope I can see one of those great planes someday. The Blackbird (IMHO) is simply the coolest aircraft ever. They smoked the pants off all the tin-horn dictators in the world, and would continue to do so today if they hadn't been mothballed.

Motorized anythings are a nuisance in National Parks. Think snowmobiles rattling around in Yellowstone in winter, or airboats in the Everglades. Sometimes they are necessary, but most of the time its just for pleasure.

Speed record? Nonsense. Not even true for a civilian jet. The SR-71 crossed the Atlantic in about an hour at Mach 3.3, and the Concorde could go Mach 2. The person who posted this must be too young and/or uninformed to know about those aircraft.

That one is too ludicrous to comment on ...

What about if a laser pointing person was pointing at a cloud deck, then an aircraft suddenly appears out of the cloud in the laser path. Going to lock up the laser holder because of an unavoidable occurrence? Seems a bit harsh, don't you think?
