Was in the boy's airforce in the UK so had a number of air experience flights (as did countless others...). The cartridge starter was quite normal although the Tiger Moth, which had a similar engine, was hand started.
Chippies still are around and much loved, understandably.
I flew a couple of return trips from Madrid to South America (2016 and 2018) in a 340-600. Lovely aircraft and comfortable cabins. I do every now and again search to see if any 340s are still flying - one or two crop up but I recall mainly 340-300s.
Er - don't get too excited. SAA offer a non-stop flight from Jo'burg to JFK (SA203)
on an Airbus Industrie A340-600 lasting 16:00. OK - the 78 will have a higher cabin pressure and perhaps a bit more room...
Tend to agree with the reviewer. Went on a BA 380 from London to Vancouver and return in early summer. Outbound OK but the return much as described. Tired IFE, vanishing cabin crew, return trip dinner OK but I'm glad I refused the cooked breakfast as it smelled and looked unpalatable.
So the A380 does show its design age.
Looking forward however to flying on the A350/1000...
