Let's hope LM relies on REAL-WORLD controllers and active pilots while developing and fielding this latest, greatest, be all, end all technology. Nothing like a new piece of equipment that's fielded by engineers and wanna-be aviation "professionals." Sorry for the skepticism, but the FAA is well-known for throwing good money at bad ideas and programs in the name of improving aviation safety. I pray this one is different - AND below budget and ahead of schedule...not something government contractors are well known for...this, from a retire controller and professional pilot.

Wish I had something good to say about old Matt the socialist. Perhaps he is really looking for a good hit piece on our current under-funded, overworked, and behind the times ATC system.

Nice to see the DOD finally realzing what everyone else knew....the A-10 is a tank drivers worst nightmare and deserves to continue doing what it does best - ruin tank driver's days! And then giving them a smokin' hole to die in!

"Antique?" How about the B-52? Or the C-130? Antique!? I think not. Effective. I think YES. Are you even a pilot, or just an arm chair expert?

Nothing says you're serious about stopping a tank and infantry division like a couple bad a$$ A-10s! Old, maybe. Effective...you bet your sweet a$$!!! Go boys! A-10 drivers eat enemy tanks for breakfast! And scare the crap outta enemy tank drivers and infantrymen like nothing else out there!

Read through pretty much every post here, but must have missed those by prior, real-world A-10 pilots. Pretty quiet from those guys. That said, I was stationed at the first USAFE base to get the A-10 back in 1979-80. We had something like 200 of them between our "sister bases" and FOLs. Every pilot I knew loved them and loved the mission/role the Wathog played at that time. And to be sure, as time went by the Soviets came to fear them, the Iraqis bowed down to them, and every opposing force the Warthog went up against ... ran! They knew they'd feel the Gatling gun's wrath and the Maverick missle's punch before they ever heard or saw the A-10 come rolling in on them. The A-10 kick's A$$ - plane and simple. Who know's we just may be scaring the Shite outta the rooskies and Iwacki's again here fairly soo. So, don't count the Warthog out just yet. Like the B-52, she's got some miles and punches left in her! IMHO of course. Aim High! But watch out below!

Well done Daniel! I've been with you guys since 2007 and have used you for weather tracking, flight planning, and various other resources. You guys are doing it right - and are no doubt proud of what you do! We are, to be sure! Thanks again!

Good point! I wonder if he was "Smart" enough to wear his uniform? I agree, a jobb label is pretty uncalled for here. But you know the Sun - they love sensationalism and drama!
