I live very near that military zone, and we get VTOLs, Blackhawks, and the occasional fighter jets flying over regularly. Lots of wide open space, mesas and canyons to play around, and very little commercial traffic. They could be testing or practicing with just about anything.

There is no "green new deal" yet. It's a proposal. Texas didn't winterize its wind turbines any better than it winterized its natural gas systems, which were the main things that failed. Get a grip.

I agree that mask-wearing should not be political. However, so-called "conservatives" have made it an issue. The fact that this guy is a "best-selling conservative author" is germane, because it's conservatives like Louie Gohmert and Herman Cain and that guy in the White House who have made it some kind of "freedom" issue when it's a public health issue. So, yes, we need to get beyond the labels. It would help if those who label themselves "conservative" would get with the program.

I am fine doing without the constant surveillance that people who fly in China must endure. Low-tech is just fine in the passenger areas. Let's not copy that part. Save the high-tech for the planes and the baggage screening and save us all money and anxiety.

I'm not a pilot, but I love learning from you all on these boards. Agreed that the pilot is the "buck stops here" person, but can we spare a few thoughts about training for fuel vendors? It seems to me that airports should insist that anyone putting fuel into an airplane should know which types of fuel go into which airplanes, regardless of special nozzles, placards, what have you. They should also be trained to then double-check against the placards, and triple-check with the pilot, without using "ain't I cool for a ground guy" jargon. In other words, they can assist the overworked, hungry, distractedly busy pilots with a critical task: putting the correct fuel (without neglected water accumulation, thank you) into the plane in the first place. I also agree that the pilot still has to check to be sure that's what actually happened. But it seems to me the origin of the near-fatal problem was with an under-trained (and mostly likely underpaid) fuel vendor. Am I way off her
