I used to have a manager in the airline industry that would brag about "failing up". She crashed and destroyed two company vehicles after being told not to touch them. She failed up from a pee-on manager to general manager. It does not surprise me one bit that Boeing is doing this. I would rather see bad and dirty actors in jail, rather than being paid out, but hey that's just me.

My A&P buddy told me that the newest jets have been upgraded to 9-pin serial. The computers are still either 8 or 16-bit computers though, roughly the same power as a super nintendo.

I agree with you there. It is easy to look back afterwards and say oh yeah _____. A couple of [really] hard landings and bazinga. That bad boy snapped cleanly. I wonder if it had anything to do with a manufacturing defect.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. When I used to load money onto planes, there was always a treasury agent there to watch every move and mark every package and log it. I guess if it is coming from a private entity, they don't do that, and ship it like regular parcel. This would have been too easy if it wasn't for those pesky cameras all over the airport watching EVERYTHING.

Boeing still has a massive cultural problem on the business end, not the engineering end. Now that their bad decisions are out there for everyone to see, now they want safety over money. I got to work with one of the good managers from Boeing a while back, and he said the business management was toxic, and it was just a matter of time before it got someone hurt or killed.

My recent trip from DFW to MSP was exactly this way. The DFW agents were rude and uncaring, wouldn't even look me in the eye. The agents in MSP were fantastic. They were great, friendly, and said thank you to me, while looking at me. The difference in these two places was really an eye opener for sure.

True that. My B-I-L is an executive producer at a news station and he has told me that in order to sell ads, they have to sensationalize news stories to get people worked up so they will watch the news.

AirTran left back in November. Hated to see them go, lost a lot of friends to the Love Field move.
