Very nice!

Balloons are not airplanes or airlines. This picture belongs In a children's book about big and little balloons. Good picture, bad editorial choice.

Michael, what did we learn in Pre-K? If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.
Chris Croft
Mr. Wulfson, perhaps you should spend less time looking at children's books and read about the US Navy/Marine Corps Dirigible-Balloon pilot program. The Navy issued Dirigible/Balloon pilot wings from 1922 and well into the 1970's. They may not be fixed wing or rotary wing aircraft but these lighter than air platforms have historically contributed a lot to aviation.

Lookup the Akron and the Macon. The Macon was stationed at Moffett Field, Sunnyvale, CA.

The wreck site of the USS Macon on the seafloor of the Pacific Ocean, off Point Sur south of San Francisco, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. More details are available at the website of NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

I think perhaps Mr. Wulfsohn might want to consider unsubscribing from this site since he is obviously not getting the content he is looking for....Have a better day !

I agree with everyone here, Oh except for Mr. Wulfsohn.

Michael, have you ever been in a hot air balloon? I have and I found myself in the air...therfore to me it is an aircraft. It was an exciting and very pleasurable flight.

"In the United States, a pilot of a hot air balloon must have a pilot certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), carrying the rating of "Lighter-than-air free balloon"As with other aircraft in the US, balloons must be registered (have an N-number), have an airworthiness certificate, and pass annual inspections. Balloons below a certain size (empty weight of less than 155 pounds or 70 kg including envelope, basket, burners and empty fuel tanks) can be used as an ultralight aircraft."
