When I was at NATC Patuxent River, we had EC121's there. Where are the radomes and military livery on this one? Might this be a L-1049 Super Constellation?

Keith... this one never was an EC-121 nor a L-1049. It is a C-121C.

This Lockheed was built as a USAF C-121C, c/n 1049F-4176 and delivered to the United States Air Force MATS in 1955 with AF s/n 54-157. She flew with MATS, the MS ANG, the WV ANG, and the PA ANG until being retired in 1977. She was subsequently flown to Davis Monthan AFB and later restored for her trans Pacific flight to Australia with the current VH-EAG registration.

Right on - Keith! The EC-121H was the last version of an AEW Connie [Airborne Early Warning] - based on the last Super Connie - the Model 1049G. The "G" version is readily identified by its tip tanks - as the one in the photo is. Someone is assuming that the last version is an EC-121. The "E" is the USAF designation for 'Electronic' - succeeding the earlier designation of "R", for 'Reconniasance'. This has happened before on Flight Aware. BTW I was an Avionics Design Engineer on the Connie Project at Lockheed, Burbank in the 1950's [just turned 90].

The wing tip tanks on this Connie were added during the restoration period before it flew to Australia as VH-EAG.

Una verdadera joya de la aviación.
