Cessna Caravan (N742FE) - KRNO - (FA type a/c is not this F-27 ) early to mid 1990s on one of our many trips to Carson City - a stop at Reno was on the way so I'd cruise the airport open access roads around the airport. Then I spotted this Fokker F-27 on the FedEx Cargo area. I don't even remember which road I was on to get this snap. Online record show FedEx registered this plane about May 1992 and that confirms the date apprx 1992-1995. I knew it would not start up until later or the next day, so we headed on south to Carson City.

Howdy, T. You were probably on either Terminal Way or Vassar St (at the Telegraph/Vassar intersection). I've got a collosal collection of photos of RNO from its very first days (1911) through to the present day and in the pics I have of it in the 90s; Terminal Way, Telegraph St and Vassar St are all there in the same configuration as they are now. The air cargo area was slightly south of where it is now so you would have either been on Terminal Way or on Vassar just west of where it intersects with Telegraph St. Today, the Fed Ex ramp is just south of the Stripper's Club and the marijuana growth facility but back in the 70s, 80s and 90s the area where Fed Ex ramps today was a special VIP reception terminal that was north of the main terminal. That VIP terminal was where aircraft with big name pax like Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Jayne Mansfield, Dean Martin, Bill Harrah, and etc., etc., would go when they landed here. (Those folks did not have to go thru the main terminal. I've got pics of Marilyn arriving and of Jayne Mansfield arriving. Marilyn arrived on a United propliner with her husband and there was a big reception in that VIP terminal. And when that Northwest B727 that D.B. Cooper hijacked landed here - after he jumped out -, the crew was taken to that same VIP terminal when they got off the plane for the press conference.) So you probably were on Vassar or Terminal when you took this ***** snap.

very kind Gman - I even tried looking at Google Maps amd couldn't figure it out but you are probably correct on some of those street access names - and early 90s some of the building configurations were not there along with the fences or many of the parking lots were not fenced. The Cargo ramp at Reno has always been a cool aircraft tarmac. I do vaguely remember the VIP terminal near that area but never saw anything cool but I didnt get much time to hang around RNO back then/ Cool to have pictures of Marilyn was she with Joe DiMaggio?? I had forgotten DB Cooper 727 touched that area - what a crazy guy he must have been. I heard an interview many years ago that the author of one of the books says the FBI would never confirm or deny, that they gave him working parachutes.......
