Knew a Mitchel Squadron CO (Col R. Lenard) who flew these in the Pacific ... Told me that the .50s were actually a "very painful" experience due to cockpit proximity . (Col Lenard was in tail & also doing BDA when two forward 25s released their parafrags prematurely necessitating some fancy flying by one very ticked-off Col .)

Thanks for your comment Walter - I always wondered how much effect it would have on your ears and possibly the seat of your pants! There were a few B-25s dedicated to ground attack and/or ship attack that had further .50s mounted to each side of the ship adjacent to the cockpit. Quite a bit of firepower! I would not want to be the bombardier that released those para-frags!!
