Douglas A-26 Invader (N9682C)
Comments
Douglas A-26B Invader, later re-designated as a B-26B.
Casey, the 172nd's "gate sentry" at Thompson Field was once painted very much like the B-26 Invader in your photo.
Hey Cliff, it was?
Casey, it was overall black with a virtually identical red accent and trim markings. The aircraft has been relocated on the base, but remains close to the current main entrance. I recall hearing that was the paint scheme it wore in the Korean War.
Cliff, if I can see it, I'll surely snap a photo of it for you :)
Thanks, Casey... I'll look forward to seeing that photo!
Hey, Cliff! I got around to tracking down the A-26 on the guard base. It's behind a fence! I'm going to do my best to get you a close up photo!
Casey, here's some info and photos of the RB-26 "gate sentry" at Thompson Field...

The constant dilemma for A-26 fans is this reference to MARKSMAN & B26.
