While the airport and the neighborhoods immediately adjacent to it only received an inch of snow (that quickly melted away during the day), just a few miles west of RNO the Sierra Nevada received 6 to 8 feet of snow. The Virginia Range foothills seen in the background of this shot received less than 6 inches of snow.
