McDonnell Douglas MD-82 (N7519A)
This early dawn takeoff of AA's N7519A captured from Rattlesnake Mountain while it was on the climb away from Reno Tahoe International's runway 16R was snapped a couple of years ago. It was exactly one year ago today, February 9, 2014, that this old Mad Dog was wfu and retired into storage. I understand the "whys," but I always enjoyed the thunder from these old birds and I'm going to miss them.

Awesome picture. Going to miss these MD-80s when they're gone.
TYVM, Mark. Seems like there are fewer and fewer (almost) daily now. Soon they'll be as rare as the 727s. (BTW: Congrats on finding that B721. Always a thrill to find one of those.)
Thanks and I was so lucky to get it because they usually park it on the other side of a building with no way to get a picture. I actually got a tour of it a few months prior to this because the pilot saw me sitting outside the FBO and offered to show me around but I didn't have a camera with me at the time which really taught me an important lesson.
That sound was my alarm clock...when working at KBUF I lived across the street and had Mad Dogs -200s and 27s taking off in wee hours of the morning
Delta made them disappear for a few months kbuf to katl replaced with 320s...brought them back...
Don't make them like they used to

Excellent low light capture. I love to contrast.
Howdy, Dave. Thanx for the comment here (and for the other comments, too). Very much appreciated. (Wave)
