I've clicked numerous shots of various Flying Boxcars on display at a variety of different outdoor air museums and air parks, and this one on display at KIAG ranked as one of the most well-tended of all of them. Most are faded, sun-beaten, dirty and (ahem) "bird bombed," but this one was obviously being visited by a maintenance person on a fairly regular basis. The aircraft and the grounds around it were both very neat and presentable.

The one in Granbury, Texas was cut up and scrapped a few years ago.

Hi, Darryl, and Thanx. And Best Wishes for another super year of spotting in 2022. Keep your lens clean, your batteries charged, and your shutter a-snappin'! (Wave & a Thumbs Up)
96flstc >>> All the C-119 Boxcars I've seen on display are ... (with only a couple of exceptions like this one)... faded, sun-stroked, filthy dirty, and bird-bombed. Of course, I understand they don't have the same "historic appeal" to be maintained OR perhaps even refurbished that the old WWII aircraft, Korean War jets, and Vietnam-era warbirds enjoy, but I've always wished that one of the several Air Force Flying Museums (such as the Commemorative AF, etc) would rebuild just one of these and tour it around the country. In the 50s and early 60s, I used to watch flight formations of these fly over my childhood home in Tonawanda, NY, as they were either on approach to, or departing from, Niagara Falls AFB. And the Coasties used to fly these also. I'd see one every so often at Greater Buffalo International (KBUF) (now Buffalo Niagara International) in the 60s.

Instant 5***** I love these planes....this looks great! We saw these almost daily pre 1964 at BFI Seattle from our back porch overlooking BFI was the coolest for me besides the Globemasters.
