McDonnell Douglas DC-10 (N318FE) - Snapped less than two minutes earlier than the picture I posted yesterday, this click captures Annabel (N318FE) as it is touching down on runway 16R. In this photo, the sun is still a whisker below the mountains behind me so the entire scene here is still in the last few seconds of dawn shadow. By the time Annabel had stopped, turned off the runway, and started taxiing back toward the cargo ramp, the sun had started appearing and the scene was as shown in yesterdays picture. Pretty amazing how quickly the sun rises.

Only a couple years ago, FDX did not send any DC-10 or MD-11 equipment to Reno. Today, having two here is not an everyday occurrence, but it is happening more and more frequently. In this shot, there is also a FDX B752 barely visible just behind "Annabel." And, coincidentally, the name of that other FDX DC-10 parked in the background is "Ann" (N308FE).

That's another really nice shot!

TY, Greg. And while you're here and I'm logged in, the first ultra-brief segment of that 8mm movie just went up on You Tube. I posted a link to it under my photo of the AA MD (first pic in my gallery). Check it out (grin - it's only a minute long). ADDED: Hey, glad you enjoyed it.

"Pretty amazing how quickly the sun rises." It sets almost as fast, also! Thanks for the FedEx shots, brings back memories. It seems the "soon to be parked" 10's are still working hard! ;-) Same "plan" was used with the 27's! Boeing/Douglas just couldn’t build them as fast they were needed. Airbus looked like it might work, but their factories weren't any faster!

Right on Gman - when I used to visit Reno and Carson City area years ago - Boeing 727s were the Fed Ex backbone...
