N714CB is the Southwest Classic specula Livery and one of two Mustard Brown Livery specials. The other is N711HK in the Herbert Keller special. There also was a third Southwest special, N792SW, was painted from it's "Mustard Rocket" special to the normal Heart Livery in late 2016.

"Mustard Brown?" (Grin) I've heard several names given to this scheme but "Mustard Brown" is new to me. The official name of this scheme is "Desert Gold." When Southwest changed from the Desert Gold scheme, three aircraft (the ones you identified) were left in the DG scheme as a tribute to the three Texas cities that Southwest served with its 3 Boeings when it first launched in '71: Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Now, only this one (the N714CB reg on this one is a tribute to the amazing Colleen Barrett) and N711HK (which as you have said is registered in tribute to Herb Kelleher - not Keller) remain in DG paint. And as an aside -- What a success story, eh? From just three planes in the fleet in '71 to a nationwide carrier today -- both Kelleher and Barrett deserve the tributes, but the success of SW did not happen just because of those two. Many, many thousands of SW employees have elevated their airline from the tiny little Texas regional it started out as to the major carrier it is today. Bravos!

Good catch Dwight and then there's thanks to Gary for the story.

My favorite nickname given to SWA old colors is "Corn Dog"

Thank you so much, Gary, Gavin, and Robin for your comments! The correct name for the Southwest's livery seen here is Dessert Gold. Southwest has such a great story starting from a small Texas airline with a unique brand to the world's largest discount airline and a top 10 largest airlines in the world in only 50 years! That is most impressive indeed, and I love seeing the airline's dedication to persevering their history.

I still far prefer this livery to the cobalt blue. I wish they would go back, but they never asked me!
