Airbus A319 (N177XF)

I tried a new spot at DSM that is literally off the beaten path. It is on the side of a hill by the touchdown zone of Runway 13 Getting to this spot requires a trek up a weed and bug infested overgrown field. The spot is very cool and, I will defiantly be making a visit here again.

Full 5 (but here again, watch for e/m w/ one minor suggestion). Congrats on finding that new spotting location. Take it from me, you won't see any other "spotters" there ... because it requires them to actually walk. Spotters around here won't go anywhere that they can't get to by vehicle. Here at RNO, there are over 30 locations but our "spotters" only shoot from the same 6 or 7 that they can drive to. Walk?? OMG!! Walk?!?! There's one guy here who doesn't even walk from his vehicle to the fence; he only goes to the three places where he can sit in his truck and take pics. "Lazy" is much too lame a word to apply to him. Heck, I used to request (here on FA) area spotters to contact me so I could take them to new locations -- but none ever did -- maybe because they knew that if they went with me they would have to go on foot (after all, if I can't drive inside the airport fence then neither would they be able to)-- so now I have no interest in escorting anyone or showing them new places. So Congrats on finding a new location. I'll bet there are at least a dozen new ones you'll find around DSM. Keep searchin'. (Tip of my cap to ya)

Nice catch Dwight!! So maybe i’m not so crazy afterall, trudging thru waist deep snow for a pic. Lol Gary! If i ever come down to RNO will you break your ‘rule’ and let me tag along to show me some good spots?...and yes i will walk...up ‘the snake’? You betcha!! Man i somedays wish i was closer to a busy airport. ‘Course my wife would be calling airport secuity to find me and send me home...again!!

Lonnie ... I most definitely will. If you are ever coming here, just let me know (give me as much advance notice as possible) and I'll be your guide. Presently, this Covid stuff makes it far more difficult to arrange a visit for us to NAS Fallon so that might not happen, but I'll take you to some super spotting locations at RNO and I also have Escort Authority so I'll take you to a couple of airside positions too. Thank you very much, Gary! Same thing here. There are some spotter "friends" who don't like this spot cause it is too difficult to get too. In my opinion a location that is legal that one can get good pics at is good spot for me regardless of how hard it is to get to or the weather conditions.
