So, the Canadians just put some letters and numbers on the F-86 and call it theirs? Like the F/A-18? Golly, you'd think that hearing the name "F-86" would strike fear into the hearts of anyone who saw those beasts flying! By far my favorite 1950's fighter. F-86F or the Mk6 from Canada. RCAF 538 was a famous one...I'd fly one of them any day.

F-86 was the Korean Police Action Mig buster. Older WWII prop planes were used mostly for ground support. The earlier F80 and Navy's F9F Panther were no match for the Mig 15. If North American hadn't quickly came out with the F86, we would not have had air superiority and suffered far worse loses. Frankly the Mig 15 was a superior dog fighter, but we had superior pilots.

The Canadian Sabre was built by Canadair under licence from North American Aviation. The CF-188 was NOT built in Canada.
