Although this Douglas DC-3 is painted in one of the earliest Pan Am liveries, it never actually flew for Pan Am. Additionally, the tail number is that of a former Pan Am DC-3, but it’s simply an homage to the now-defunct airline. The original NC33611 was damaged beyond repair shortly after it entered service. This particular DC-3 spent most of its time serving as the private aircraft for the American TV network CBS. It now features a deluxe interior, the latest flight instruments and the stunning livery.

I do remember lots of rides in the RCAF DC-3'sWe landed in Leopoldville buy North Star, and the DC3 on the ramp had no deicer boots , Corse down there you didn't need them.

Recently saw this beauty in person at Felts Field, Spokane, WA parked beside their outstanding museum. Great eats at the nearby cafe also. Worth it to go see!

The Abbotsford Flying Club hosted a 50th anniversary reunion for the DC3 back in, I guess it would have been 1985. Our goal was for 50 airplanes and we got perhaps 40 or so. I have always liked the DC3 and vividly recall the one that stood ankle deep in the grass beside an old Quonset Hut. My friend and I would bike (pedal) to the airport and wander around. Before fences and security. The closest I got to being inside one was crawling around the wheel well. I am younger, by 3 decades, but the DC3s still around have aged much better than I. 5 stars for the photo, 10 for the memories

She's sitting there nose up as if longing to be back in the air where she belongs. DC-3s are the best.

1st plane ride at age 3. My dad worked for Ozark. He also told me I threw up on that ride. Good times

I am curious to ask what the sort of Z shaped little items that are “wired” underneath both cowlings. Looks like some sort of device to protect something while parked. Have not seen anything like that before. Any ideas?

William Owen: Looks like a catch pan for engine oil.

I think this bird is shown in:

Part 1 of 4 available on YouTube. It flew to Europe via the WWII route across the North Atlantic for the 75th anniversary of D-Day and is owned by Robert S. Randazzo,PMDG Simulations

Watch the four videos in sequence as they really give the flavor of the North Atlantic Crossing.

Paint it in camo, add 3 mini guns and a flare box and I am back in Nam in 1968!
