Nothing like we see overseas or even at other major airports in Australia but this is most of the aircraft stored, grounded in Adelaide due to the Covid-19 situation.

These have been here for a number of weeks because of our closed state borders but a handful of services do still operate between the state capitals.

Since this grounding of course Virgin Australia has gone into administration and there are stories now circulating that a number of 'interested parties' are looking at buying Virgin.

Hi Chris...there are two more Virgins to the right as you see this pic and Qantas VH-VXQ to the left. I took some wide shots to get them all but this tighter shot made a better picture.

I hadn't heard about the A380s in Alice. That would be an impressive sight if they are grouped. Thanks for the info.

Hello Tom, I wondered why myself. There appears to be some odd stuff at Shannon, Ireland too from what one of our good uploaders has been posting. It may be in some cases, that if the airlines can find a space somewhere, they use it (for an appropriate fee of course!)

Alice Springs. Could it be because it is hot and dry, desert-like conditions, and ideal for long term storage, perhaps?

Exactly right Viv. It's 1300 km (as the wedgetail eagle would fly) from the nearest ocean. Nearly 2000 feet above sea level. It also has an 8000 foot long runway with an ILS.
