Douglas DC-3 (ZS-CAI)

I'm really enjoying the various snaps of the Springbok propliner. Any idea why a South Africa-based DC-3 is there? Is there some event or perhaps a tourist draw? Great photos! *****
Hi. No event, seen Sunday Jan 15 at Princeton - Rocky Hill Airport, NJ
Gary - from what I can gather, "Charlie" has been sold to new owners in the USA. Here is a post from the "old owners", Springbok Classic Air", from October 7, 2018. They arrived in NY on October 17.
DOUGLAS DC-3 ZS CAI of SPRINGBOK CLASSIC AIR departed Rand Airport (FAGM) yesterday on a flight to the United States of America (KBGR) near New York, a 5326 NMS (9,800 KM) journey!! In command of this ENORMOUS task is Capt Piet Nieuwenhuizen. Assisting him, on the flight deck is Capt Brandi Branders and with the maintenance support Flight Engineer Officer Theo Munroe!! Between the three of them they have MORE than 10,000 flight hours on DC-3 making them, most likely, the most experienced CURRENT crew on DC-3’s in the world today!!!!! We wish them GODSPEED-a safe and enjoyable day!!!!
They flew via Polokwane, to clear immigration and customs and then onto Ondangwa yesterday where they have arrived safely after approximately 7 hours and 20 minutes of flight time for the day!!
The aircraft performed well!! This morning they are departing for Luanda a 4 hour and 15 minute flight!
On the flight with Piet and his crew is the new owner, Mr Martin Balk from New Jersey and his friend . Bob Hewing!!

Hi, Viv. Hey, thanks VM for this info. I was very curious as to what would bring an old propliner on such a far journey. The info you've provided explains it. Hmmm. I'm wondering if (and hoping) it might someday stop by RNO during its future travels. I love the old birds. Takes me back to a great era of aviation. Thanks again, Viv. (Thumbs Up)
