Nice photo although the comment is of no use as very few of us have any command of the French language.

I keep looking at this, it may be some sort of optical illusion I don't know of but being the furthest away from us (albeit by just a little) that lead aircraft should appear smaller but it definitely seems to be larger overall, same shape and outline and even the fine detail seems at first glance to be identical but for the canard in minute detail and ofcourse the wing is much bigger and has a different root with more area but beyond that the whole airframe seems around 2-2.5% larger.....am I alone in seeing this and being intrigued?

Ok so I pulled the image into my graphics software and measured to the pixel the leading machine's wing vs that of the trailing aircraft (F-PYSM) and despite the larger wing root on the lead aircraft which is a full double tapered root the wings are the same in span and sweep but again the lead machine's wing is 2% larger in chord, the fuselage and gear as well as the canards are all identical in size to the pixel despite the varying distance from the camera and slight difference at the tips so I remain a tiny bit confused but can see now that they are essentially the same aircraft but for a modified root on the lead ship F-PJLB.

Sorry, Guys, this is Valence, France, on the Rhone between Lyon and Avignon. See 'Valence Air Display' for an even better picture.

The tip shape of the canard is different, the attach points or hinges are increased from 2 to 3 each side. The chord of the main wing is increased, and there's no little white drooping LE cuff at the tip like the 2 other planes. The main gear legs are larger too.

Pretty much the differences between the Long Eze and the Vari Eze.
Plus the web site says the lead plane is modified from Burt Rutan's design.
In other words, two similar but different planes.

Saw one of this craft over Shropshire UK on 1/7 heading West.
