Terry, did you think that Airbus and Boeing never receive government money ??? And did you think Airbus and Boeing make all their aircraft in France and USA ?? It's totaly a normal way of doing business now. The Cseries are a pretty good aircraft and futur will tell it ! If you think small, you stay small. You need to try big to make progress and i'm sure that Bombardier will win the challenge.

Martin, yes I am aware of subsidies for both; in fact a recent comment made by me chastising Airbus haters when an American pilot was the first US pilot to be qualified on the A350 (which my son worked on for Honeywell for 4 years) crapped all over him and Airbus because a) they think there is too much EU subsidy for AB and b) they trash the fly by wire and joystick used by them. I made the point that most of Boeing profit comes from Pentagon contracts. We are a small (in population) country and cannot compete with the EU and the US to build this type of aircraft. The A320n is using the Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan as is theC series; this aircraft does not have enough sales and it probably won't have to come even close to breaking even let alone make a profit. Stick with regional, business jets and turboprops, We are good at that.

re: "Stick with regional, business jets and turboprops..." And how did we get "good at that?" NOT by sticking to making trains because "we are good at that." ;-) No pain no gain. The C series looks like a winner but it'll take a few days to penetrate the stronghold that is Airbus/Boeing in the 100 seats + segment of the industry. Go Bombardier!

I am Canadian but this mismanaged and bankrupt prone company should never have started the C series. To compete with Boeing and Airbus in the single aisle market is folly. They have recently received a billion dollar bailout from Quebec and no doubt will get more money from our federal government (they have before,we have to protect those votes from Quebec you know). Much of the aircraft production is Ireland the US and who knows where else. They are being sued (or should be) by the city of Toronto for late delivery of street cars. WAY LATE.
