Marcus, we have been hearing of the "impending pilot shortage" for decades, I'll believe it when I see it.
The only shortage I see is jobs---now and in the future, at least in the US. If you want to fly, you need to go out of the country to find a job, and that's not just pilot jobs, it's every segment of business in the US.
Finally a proactive approach to cost cutting and reducing

with flight training and hiring stagnant as we had these last 5 years, couple with the 1500hr/ATP requirement, those cockpit seats won't be easy to fill.
