Air Malta eyes New York, Toronto, Mumbai services using extended-range Airbus A321
We have to dream of the longer routes, says tourism minister (www.timesofmalta.com) 更多...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
This guy really thinks Malta can compete with Heathrow for connections? And LHR isn't the only popular European connecting airport. I just can't see this happening. If it does, I won't be flying Air Malta across the Atlantic any time soon.
Malta is the back door for funny money in and out of Europe, so New York and Toronto are natural choices.
Long range on an A321 is like putting lipstick on a big. The A321 never had and never will have the performance to do these kinds off missions. Airbus is just delusional about the A321 as Boeing is about the 737 MAX 9 and 10. Neither is a replacement for the 757. With that being sad even the 757 during the winter months has performance problems on flights between Western Europe and the Northeastern USA. All it takes is a strong Jetstream or track deviations for North Atlantic storms and 757s trips have to divert for fuel westbound.
They have already flown a few almost 8700 km including headwinds...remember they are using the NEO edition and the Leap engines are performing well now the kinks are worked out.
